ABOUT ME

Hope is the thread that weaves today’s desires with tomorrow’s possibilities.

Welcome! My name is Rebecca Joy Mercer and I am so glad you’re here. I am a writer, speaker and vlogger passionate about sharing the messy business of being human with you.

For most of my life, anxiety and fear have been my dance partners. We’ve gone to school together. We’ve had relationships together. We’ve fueled projects together. We’ve traveled together. We’ve grown up together. Those two have been such an integral part of my life that I still vividly remember the first time I woke up without their tightened clutch in my chest.

After years of co-existing I eventually found myself sitting in a therapist’s office desperate to escape the undercurrent of sadness that had become the baseline of my life. When she looked me in the eyes and asked, “Why are you here?” all I could say was, “I just don’t want to be sad any more.”

That was it for me. Since that moment I’ve been on a crazy adventure of becoming more and more alive. I am married to the man that has been my best friend since middle school, have two gorgeous children that both thrill me and test my sanity and I work in a career with some of the most amazingly talented people I’ve ever encountered. My life is both beautiful and insane, joyous and gut-wrenching, captivating and mundane - but that’s just it - that is exactly the messy business I am so passionate about.

I write and I speak to share with you what it means to crumble, overcome and rise into thriving. My greatest desire is that something I have created motivates you to live a more inspired, alive and raw life.

“When the volcanic ash of crumbling covers the life that once was, it is there we will find a new soil – one ripe for the rising. Hope is not lost, it dwells among the ashes.”
